S1 E16: Medium Rarities (Rarities, Disc Two)

I hope no one is setting their calendars waiting for the next episode! This time, Anthony and Randy give their take on the second disc of Rarities.

  1. ‘Love’s a Hard Game to Play’ – Written by Bret Michaels for Timespace, this got less attention than ‘Sometime’s it’s a Bitch.’ Here’s the live version from Arsenio Hall, courtesy of our Brother of the Moon Jeffrey Christian. You can also hear the Jim Ladd interview at the Whiskey A Go Go (medium quality).
  2. ‘Desert Angel’ – Also from Timespace. For a really great, nearly acapella version, check out this version from Gothic Trunk on YouTube.
  3. ‘Mirror, Mirror’ – An outtake from Rock A Little, it was also re-recorded for Street Angel.
  4. ‘Inspiration’ – This song was relegated to the Japanese release of Street Angel, and was written by Ethan Johns (son of original producer Glyn Johns). We cannot apologize to the people of Japan enough.
  5. ‘Thousand Days’ – Originally recorded for Rock A Little, a different edit was included in the Enchanted boxed set. As Anthony pointed out, StevieNicks.Info has a great write-up on the song. (Randy stands corrected, it was recorded for Street Angel.)
  6. ‘God’s Garden’ – I SAID WE ARE SORRY, JAPAN!!!
  7. ‘Somebody Stand By Me’ – First appeared on the Boys on the Side soundtrack. Written by Sheryl Crow, this is the song that first brought them together.

All in all, a ho hum collection, right in the middle of the Rarities. As we pointed out, most of these do not even sound like Stevie Nicks songs. What do you think? Are these songs you liked on this disc? Dislikes?

Note: Finding these videos for the blog is a lot of fun, and we have run across a few accounts that have some of the best content. Very special thanks to:
