S1 E 14 – Sometimes It’s A Wig! Sometimes…It’s A Weave…(Rarities, Disc One)

We are inching towards the end of our boxed set reviews! This episode we dive into disc one of the Rarities. As Randy mentioned in the episode, many of these, while not well known to the general public, have been around (and released multiple times).

Blue Lamp was the first solo song Stevie ever recorded, at the start of the Bella Donna sessions. It found a home on the soundtrack to the film Heavy Metal. It was also included in the setlist for the White Winged Dove Tour.

Sleeping Angel is also from the Bella Donna sessions and was included in the Fast Times at Ridgemont High soundtrack.

Garbo – Allegedly the original closer for The Wild Heart, it ended up being the b-side to Standback.

Violet and Blue – Ok, I was TODAY years old when I learned that this charted in the Top Twenty the week of April 28, 1984, exactly forty years ago! (Excuse me while I Google nursing homes). The linked video is the unused Chris Lord-Alge remix intended for Timespace.

One More Big Time Rock and Roll Star – A b-side for Talk to Me, it was also included in The Enchanted Works of Stevie Nicks (our Girl LOVES a long winded title, doesn’t she?).

Battle of the Dragon (my heart around) – This song here is the highlight of this disc, and should her been WAY more popular. This is another unused Chris Lord-Alge remix.

Real Tears – A b-side to Two Kinds of Love.

Sometimes It’s A Bitch – Sometimes…it’s a weave. Has Randy mentioned how much he LOVES the Ming the Merciless coat???

Which rarity is your favorite?
